The toll could have been even heavier, given the violence of the scene. As reported France Blue, a car ran into pedestrians this Friday evening around 11 p.m., near a parking lot on rue du professor Darget, in Bordeaux (Gironde). The images were shared on social media.

Six people were injured, including at least two seriously, according to local radio, affected in the legs and pelvis. The vital prognosis of the two victims, a man and a woman aged 18, is not engaged. They were transported to two hospitals in the city, along with a third, lighter injured. Four other people, aged 17 to 26, were also slightly injured.

The driver in custody

Aged 32, the driver of the car, who would have first tried to flee, was finally caught by witnesses, and “stopped in the neighboring town of Bassens”. He was arrested by the police, as were his three passengers, born between 1992 and 2003. They were taken into custody, where they were still on Saturday morning.

According to information from France Bleu confirmed by the police to AFP this Saturday, the vehicle “lost control in a bend during a run (a luck of wild race, aiming to reach a high burst of speed), leaving the roadway, and collided with spectators on the sidewalk”. An investigation was opened for “aggravated involuntary injuries”.
