Border 2 Receives CBFC Clearance with Minimal Cuts Ahead of January 23 Release

The highly anticipated war drama, Border 2, is slated to hit theaters in just two days, on January 23, and excitement surrounding the film is reaching a fever pitch. After a lengthy review process, the film’s censor certificate was officially granted to the filmmakers on Wednesday, January 21. This article provides an exclusive look at the modifications requested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

No Dialogue or Action Cuts for Border 2

In a positive development for the production team, the CBFC has opted not to demand any cuts to the film’s dialogue or action sequences. This means the intense and dramatic action scenes envisioned by the filmmakers will remain intact for audiences.

Minor Modifications Approved by the Censor Board

While the core content was approved, the CBFC did request a few minor adjustments. According to sources, filmmakers were asked to include the full name, Fateh Singh, for Sunny Deol’s character in the film’s end credits.

Further modifications involved visual elements. As per established guidelines, depictions of the Indian flag on war planes were replaced throughout the film. Additionally, the name of a warship featured in Border 2 was changed to ‘Kavach’. The duration and font size of on-screen information detailing the contributions of the warriors depicted were also increased for greater clarity.

Collaboration with Authorities Ensured Accuracy

The filmmakers proactively submitted relevant documents from the public domain to the CBFC’s Examining Committee. A final check was requested to verify the accuracy of the emblem displayed on a character’s shoulder. Producers confirmed the depiction’s correctness, having consulted with both the army and the family of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, portrayed in the film by Varun Dhawan.

U/A 13+ Rating and Film Length

Following the implementation of these changes, Border 2 received a U/A 13+ certificate. The absence of a more restrictive 16+ rating suggests the film may not contain excessively disturbing or graphic content. The film’s official runtime, as listed on the censor certificate, is 199.07 minutes – equivalent to 3 hours, 19 minutes, and 7 seconds.

Stellar Cast and Production Team

Border 2 boasts a prominent cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and others. The film is a collaborative effort between Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, alongside J P Dutta and Nidhi Dutta of J P Films, with direction by Anurag Singh.

Trade analysts have already begun discussing the film’s potential box office performance, noting the powerful emotional resonance of the story. One analyst noted, “There’s no ‘Aman Ki Asha’ factor here; When Sunny Deol screams ‘Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye?’ and when the jawans reply ‘Lahore tak’, you are directly naming the enemy.”
