The three-time Wimbledon winner and FC Bayern supporter Boris Becker is confident that the record German soccer champion will win the title again this season.
“I think that just the experience, the fact that you’ve been champion ten times in a row, speaks for you,” said the former tennis star, according to a report by the “Sportbuzzer” portal at the Laureus Awards ceremony in Paris.
Becker also thinks a lot of coach Thomas Tuchel, who has been leading the team since the end of March after Julian Nagelsmann separated. “I’m a fan of Tuchel,” said Becker. He believes the 49-year-old, thanks to the experience gained at top clubs Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, can give the Bayern team “the strength and backing they need to take the lead”.
With the last three Bundesliga matchdays to go, Munich are leading the table with a one-point lead over Borussia Dortmund. In the meantime, the 55-year-old Becker was also a member of the club’s administrative advisory board. (dpa)
