Vdefense minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) has asked his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu to stop a training program involving former German fighter pilots. “I made it clear that I expect this practice to end immediately and made it clear to him that he would certainly not be amused if I tried to do it myself,” Pistorius said in Singapore on Saturday after meeting the Chinese general .
He reacted very cautiously. “He didn’t deny it, but put the meaning into perspective from his perspective,” Pistorius said.
Former fighter pilots from Germany are said to have been in China Train military pilots, as “Spiegel” and ZDF reported on Friday. According to this, at least a handful of former officers of the German Air Force are said to be employed as trainers in China.
