People from all walks of life celebrated the 2022 English New Year with fireworks from all over the world. New Year’s Day was celebrated with various restrictions amid the omega threat.

In major cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore, New Year’s celebrations have been banned this year at public gatherings on New Year’s Day. Various state governments have implemented night curfews.

In Tamil Nadu, it has been banned to perform in public places including singing and dancing. 13 thousand policemen are to be engaged in security work in Chennai ahead of the New Year. Roads in Chennai were deserted due to lack of permission to celebrate the New Year.
