People from all walks of life celebrated the 2022 English New Year with fireworks from all over the world. New Year’s Day was celebrated with various restrictions amid the omega threat.
In major cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore, New Year’s celebrations have been banned this year at public gatherings on New Year’s Day. Various state governments have implemented night curfews.
In Tamil Nadu, it has been banned to perform in public places including singing and dancing. 13 thousand policemen are to be engaged in security work in Chennai ahead of the New Year. Roads in Chennai were deserted due to lack of permission to celebrate the New Year.
At the same time permission was granted to celebrate the New Year in Pondicherry. According to it the New Year celebration was weeded out on the beach road. People celebrated the New Year by cutting cakes and performing dances.
Special prayers were held in the churches on the eve of the New Year. Special worships were also held at some temples. People from all walks of life attended and shared their New Year greetings. Although the regular celebrations are not like last year (2021), people have welcomed the New Year in a peaceful manner as 2022 should be the best year ever.
