The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, announced this Monday that will travel this week to Israel, Palestine, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan to discuss the war in Gaza and humanitarian access to the Strip with the countries of the region.
As Borrell confirmed in a message on social networks, he will debate with “regional leaders” humanitarian access and assistance and political issues related to the conflict in the Strip. “Need a political horizon that looks towards the two-state solution. This can only be achieved through dialogue,” said the head of European diplomacy.

The EU wants to play a role in resolving the conflict and to do so it has begun to debate a European plan for the future of Gaza which, although it is difficult for the bloc to carry forward on its own, hopes that it will gain support among Arab countries and the United States.
European sources explain that his natural interlocutor in Israel is the Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, while his meeting with other leaders such as the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, or the President, Isaac Herzog, is “pending confirmation.”
This tour is the High Representative’s first trip to the field since the unprecedented attacks by Hamas on October 7, which triggered Israel’s response with an offensive against Gaza that left more than 11,000 dead.
It contrasts with the agenda of the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who was the first leader, along with the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, to go to the field after the Hamas terrorist action and generated controversy for delayed in adhering to the common European position that established International Law as a limit to its response.
