“The hospital-territory alliance is fundamental” in vaccination coverage. “There is, in fact, a double channel: the territorial offer which includes all patients, including the frail, which sees vaccination centres, general practitioners and pharmacies. Then there is the hospital part which, in addition to becoming burden of the patients it treats (therefore also the frail), it can also give important indications on the epidemiological aspect, on the diffusion of both influenza, pneumococcus and Herpes Zoster, and on the seriousness of the diseases themselves”. “Some of these vaccinations have the vaccination centers or hubs as their only reference – continues Borriello -. The future transition should see an extension of the vaccination offer to the territory, in particular to the general practitioner, with the possibility of being able to undergo vaccinations throughout the year”.
