On the Scurati case and on the disciplinary proceedings against Rai and Giorgia Meloni”>Serena Bortonedecided by the CEO Roberto Sergio, there is a clash on the upper floors of Viale Mazzini. Clash of opinions and claims of competence. With the president Rai Marinella Soldi who makes it known that he disagrees with the CEO: “I don’t think that the disciplinary proceedings against Serena Bortone do justice to the matter, nor do it do RAI any good,” he says.
Rai, CEO Sergio’s revenge: “Proceeding for Bortone” by Giovanna Vitale 08 May 2024
“What the CEO reported to the Supervisory Commission partially recounts what happened, without citing any significant aspects – continues Soldi –. Without prejudice to company policies, the so-called Scurati case is still subject to checks by the company’s Internal Audit management, for which the president has the powers. The draft results of this audit have been seen by both me and the CEO and highlight a much more complex situation than that described by the CEO, which requires a more complete approach”.
Precisely starting from an alleged violation of the public service policy, Sergio himself intervenes and claims exclusive jurisdiction over the complaint made to the Rai3 journalist to whom, he explains “a complaint was sent by the Company, as happened in other similar cases, for the post published on his social profiles at 8.30 am on Saturday 20 April in violation of the legislation which prohibits any employed or self-employed Rai worker from issuing public statements or in any case made in public contexts such as social networks on activities, news and company facts”. Sergio adds that “while waiting for the counterarguments, it is specified that this is a due act, purely managerial and the exclusive responsibility of the CEO”.
The general manager’s line is slightly different Giampaolo Rossi which he tries to downplay: “They are not measures. They are letters that are routinely sent to all employees, so it is a company practice that is applied, that’s all.”
The oppositions
The opposition group leaders in Rai Supervision, Stefano Graziano (Pd), Dario Carotenuto (M5s), Maria Elena Boschi (Iv), Mariastella Gelmini (Action), Angelo Bonelli e Peppe De Cristoforo (Avs), have requested that “the Rai Supervisory Commission takes action to convene the hearing of the journalist Serena Bortone and the director of Rai in-depth analysis, Paolo Corsiniin order to clarify the Scurati case”. In the letter addressed to the president of the commission, Barbara Floridathe group leaders underlined that “during the hearing of the Rai top management last night, a reconstruction of the facts emerged which was very distant from the known one without the Rai top management providing the necessary documentation demonstrating the truthfulness of what they claimed as also underlined by this morning from President Money who denies them by talking about omissions and partial stories”.
Feltrinelli’s denial
Meanwhile, Feltrinelli denies that there was any type of agreement for the promotion of the graphic novel “The Second Midnight” by Scurati with ‘Chesarà…’, the program hosted by Serena Bortone. The publishing house underlines this after the words of Rai CEO Roberto Sergio, who last night in the Supervisory Commission claimed that the writer was “interested in a period of promotion of a graphic novel which can be booked from 19 April and of a fiction taken from his work”.
