Now it counts! Borussia Dortmund have to play against Paris Saint-Germain in the Prinzenpark on Tuesday (May 7th, 9 p.m.). It’s about getting into the Champions League final. With a 1-0 first leg win, coach Edin Terzic’s team travels to the French capital with a lot of self-confidence.
The first big surprise came when the BVB entourage left for Paris. Shooting star Kjell Wätjen will – contrary to all expectations – travel to the semi-final second leg. The youngster from Borussia Dortmund will also be there in Paris.
Borussia Dortmund: Wätjen also in Paris
With the 5-1 win against FC Augsburg, the black and yellow team succeeded in the dress rehearsal for the most important game of the season. Two players in particular were in the foreground in the furious home win: Marco Reus and Wätjen. Reus announced his departure at the end of the season the day before and Wätjen celebrated his Bundesliga debut at home in the Westfalenstadion.
The youngster prepared a goal for Reus in his first game and showed an extremely strong performance throughout the entire game. The 18-year-old was rightly celebrated by the BVB fans afterwards. After the final whistle, they had one main demand: Wätjen should fly to Paris for the Champions League game.

But that didn’t seem possible at first. The youngster is currently in the middle of his Abitur and has to write his Abitur exam in mathematics on Tuesday (May 7th). It was therefore firmly assumed that Wätjen would stay in Dortmund. But when we looked at the squad for the game against PSG, he was there.
First the Abitur exam, then the premier class
As BVB later announced, Wätjen will travel to Paris on Tuesday afternoon after his high school exams in order to be there in time for the game in the evening. This made the Borussia fans very happy. “First high school, then Paris. “You can do it like that, hot guy,” wrote a fan on “X”. “Absolutely crazy. Let’s hope both turn out well,” said another.
More news:
The recently injured Karim Adeyemi and Sebastien Haller will also be there in Paris. Both had recently struggled with muscle problems, but got fit in time for the showdown against PSG.
