Boryeong City’s Iggongsao Youth Startup Support Project goes beyond simple start-up support and provides young people with opportunities to take on challenges, opening up new possibilities to grow together with the local community.
Through the stories of two teams that participated in this project and succeeded in starting a business, we look at the value of youth entrepreneurship and the meaning of Boryeong City’s support project.
CEO Kim Beom-soo, who participated in the 2023 Lee Gongsao Youth Startup, runs an indoor soccer class ‘BEOM FC’ in Daecheon-dong and provides a healthy play space for children.
He recalled memories of playing with his friends as a child, and felt sorry for the reality that children these days have fewer opportunities to play outside due to fine dust and private education. He said he decided to start a business because he felt there was a lack of such opportunities, especially in rural areas.
While serving in the military, he felt at a loss in the process of preparing to start a business, but was able to make a detailed plan and succeed in starting a business through Boryeong City’s Igongsao Youth Entrepreneurship Support Project. Currently, there is a constant stream of inquiries about classes, so we plan to hire additional coaches and run more classes.
CEO Cha Eun-ji, who participated in the 2024 Lee Gongsao Youth Entrepreneurship Support Project, opened the dessert cafe ‘Butterly’ near Daecheon Beach last May.
She tried to promote Boryeong’s unique characteristics by making desserts using local agricultural products such as Boryeong’s figs and grapes. These efforts paid off, and the cafe recorded monthly sales of 13 million won within two months of opening, and currently has 1,000 followers on Instagram.
CEO Cha expressed his ambition to contribute to promoting Boryeong by creating desserts that both local residents and tourists can enjoy.
Mayor Kim Dong-il said, “The Igongsao Youth Entrepreneurship Support Project is establishing itself as a platform where the region and youth can grow together,” and promised to continue to provide unsparing support for young entrepreneurs.
Boryeong City’s Iggongsao Youth Startup Support Project is serving as an important stepping stone for the region and youth to coexist and develop.
