Boseong-gun’s customized care service for the elderly saved precious lives with a quick response in the heat wave. Boseong-gun announced that on the 25th, when the heat wave warning was issued, Boseong-gun’s customized care service for the elderly, which looks after the well-being of the elderly living alone, saved the precious life of an elderly person in their 80s in a crisis situation during the heat wave.

On this day, Ms. Shin, a life support worker, was making a phone call to check on the well-being of Mr. Park, a senior citizen living in Janggwang-gil, Beolgyo-eup, whom she was caring for, and when she heard his voice, which was weak and tired, she instinctively sensed that there was a problem.

Mr. Shin immediately headed to the target home and discovered that an elderly person who was taking heart medication for angina had collapsed. He immediately called 119 and took emergency measures.

Thanks to Mr. Shin’s quick response, the incident was quickly reported to the dedicated social worker and the military situation room, and since the guardian living in the metropolitan area could not be present at the scene, the dedicated social worker from Boseong County rode along in the 119 ambulance and assisted in transporting the elderly person to the emergency room of Seongga Roro Hospital in Suncheon.

The elderly person who was transferred to the emergency room had to wait for about 3 hours because the hospital had many emergency patients, but a dedicated social worker and a person in charge of customized elderly care services reassured the elderly person and supported the quick completion of examination and hospitalization procedures, including basic measures such as heart rate monitoring.

The elderly person is currently hospitalized in the emergency room, recovering and has been safely returned to his guardian.

Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong County, said, “It is fortunate that we were able to save the precious life of an elderly person through quick discovery and action, even though it was the weekend.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to take good care of the elderly in Boseong County and maintain a tight-knit elderly care system.”
