Boseong-gun confirmed a final budget of 780.7 billion won for 2024. Boseong-gun announced on December 20 that the 3rd supplementary budget for 2024 was confirmed at a total of 780.7 billion won through the plenary session of the 307th Boseong-gun extraordinary session.
This is a decrease of KRW 9.2 billion (1.16%) from the 2nd supplementary budget of KRW 789.9 billion. The general account decreased by KRW 8.1 billion to KRW 683.2 billion, and the special account decreased by KRW 1.1 billion to KRW 97.5 billion.
This supplementary budget reflects changes in revenue adjustments and national highway subsidy projects ahead of the end of the fiscal year, and focuses on minimizing costs and disuses and sound financial management by reducing the execution balance of the expenditure budget and inefficient business budgets.
In particular, as the local allocation tax for 2024 was confirmed to be KRW 262 billion, down KRW 9.3 billion from the originally estimated KRW 271.3 billion as a result of the government’s re-estimate of national tax revenue, the execution status of projects in progress was checked and the budget for non-urgent projects was adjusted. The 2024 budget was completed without additional investment in the Financial Stabilization Fund.
Major projects include △Boseong Park Golf Course Construction Project (KRW 2.9 billion), △Bognae District Rural Living Water Development Project (KRW 2 billion), △Creation of a good care environment for young people to raise children (KRW 2 billion), and △Haedo Tidal Flat Trail. Creation project (KRW 800 million), △Beolgyo Buyongsan urban living forest construction project (KRW 800 million), △Crop disaster countermeasures There is a disaster relief fund for rice planthopper damage (400 million won).
Kim Cheol-woo, the mayor of Boseong County, said, “The local financial conditions are becoming more difficult due to the recent chaos in the domestic situation, such as martial law and the subsequent passage of the impeachment bill, and the reduction of grants, but we will lay the foundation for Boseong County’s unwavering growth through sound financial management.”
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun announced on the 20th that it had secured a total project cost of 400 million won and established a stable bee supply system through the ‘Honey Bee and Pollinator Bee Smart Breeding Facility Support Project’, which was promoted to solve the difficulties of beekeeping farmers.
The national beekeeping industry is experiencing difficulties in farm management due to the loss of overwintering bees due to abnormal winter temperatures, increased bee purchase costs, and decreased honey production.
In particular, facility horticultural farms such as strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers in Boseong-gun, which use honey bees as pollinating insects, are complaining of a significant burden due to the increase in farm management costs due to the increased purchase price of pollinating bees.
Accordingly, Boseong-gun embarked on a ‘honey and pollinating bee smart breeding facility support project.’ This project protects wintering bees through early detection of abnormal weather conditions such as cold waves and heavy snowfall, and promotes specialized pollinating bee production farms by distributing smart breeding environment management technology using digital sensors and related equipment.
The county targeted 13 beekeeping farmers, and through this project, improved beekeeping specifications facilities and established smart breeding facilities, including installing 65 smart beehives, 5 rain shelters, 2 equipment warehouses, and 5 cold storages. supported.
In addition, 25 units of 10 types of labor-saving mechanical equipment such as harvesting carts, automatic harvesting machines, and automatic debarking machines, as well as consumable equipment such as bee harvesters, beehives, and automatic feeders, were provided to farmers to help reduce labor and improve productivity in beekeeping.
‘Smart bee hive’ is a device that manages the colony by checking the internal environment of the colony (temperature, humidity, ammonia, carbon dioxide concentration, etc.) through an application and controlling the internal environment of each hive through thermal insulation facilities and ventilation fans. all. By monitoring bee activity and controlling moisture and food management, bee productivity can be increased not only during the winter season but also during the general breeding season.
The county has been effective in stable production of beekeeping products such as honey, royal jelly, and propolis through the smart breeding facility support project for honey bees and pollinating bees, and has received great response from facility horticultural farmers in Boseong-gun due to the smooth supply and demand of pollinating bees. .
Boseong-gun plans to secure additional government funding in 2025 and continue to support the ‘Bee and Pollinator Bee Smart Rearing Facility Support Project’ to ensure stable bee production for beekeepers.
Kim Yeon-soo, head of the Boseong-gun branch of the Korean Beekeeping Association, said, “I hope this project will be of great help to beekeepers who worry about the winter season every year due to abnormal weather.” He added, “Through the supply of pollinating bees, beekeepers in Boseong-gun and facility horticulture farmers win-win. “I hope it will be a winning opportunity,” he said.
