Botafogo Draws 2-2 with São Paulo, Retains Lead in Brasileirão

by time news

Botafogo, under Artur Jorge, drew 2-2 last night against São Paulo in the 19th round of the Brasileirão. The home team, which had come off four consecutive victories at Morumbi, started the match better thanks to a penalty converted by Lucas Moura. However, Botafogo would awaken in the first half, turning the game around in 11 minutes through Tiquinho Soares from the penalty spot and Cuiabano.

In the second half, São Paulo came in determined to turn the match around and at 60’, Ferreira managed to equalize the score at two goals. This result did not change until the final whistle.

After this slip, Botafogo (40 points) ends its five-match winning streak but maintains an isolated lead in the Brasileirão, albeit conditionally, since Flamengo, with a game in hand, trails by three points. São Paulo (32 points), on the other hand, dropped to 6th place after Cruzeiro’s victory over Juventude by 2-0.
