Fogao, LDU’s next rival in the Cup, presented its new coach, who would make his debut at Rodrigo Paz Delgado
Although the season has already started and the Copa Libertadores is underway, Botafogo took its time to hire its coach. Fogao started the year with Tiago Nunes, who was already at the club from the previous one, but after a string of results that the board considered negative, they made the decision to fire him.
The Brazilian team has been without a coach since mid-February, so they took their time to find a replacement, and this Friday they made it official. Artur Jorge, a 52-year-old Portuguese coach, was chosen by Botafogo to take the reins of the team with a view to competing in the Copa Libertadores, a tournament where they will face Liga de Quito.
Botafogo made official the arrival of Artur Jorge, who left the position of coach at Sporting Braga in Portugal in February, and accepted the offer from the Rio de Janeiro team. Fogao has made a significant investment in the squad and in the case of the coach they did not skimp, since they want to win a title this season.
The defeat against Junior at home on matchday 1 of the Copa Libertadores was a hard blow for Botafogo, so they hope to recover this Thursday, April 11, when they visit Liga de Quito on matchday 2 starting at 5 p.m. (Ecuadorian time ). Artur Jorge will debut with the Brazilian team against the Albos, since they will not have action this weekend.
