Botafogo Triumphs Over Corinthians 2-1, Extends Lead at Brasileirão Top

by time news

Botafogo triumphed over Corinthians, winning 2-1, and remains alone at the top of the Brasileirão, with four more points than Fortaleza, the second-placed team. The Timão, on the other hand, continues in the relegation zone.
The team coached by Artur Jorge—who was not present for the match due to suspension—opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal from Luiz Henrique and went into halftime with the lead. In the second half, Corinthians equalized with a penalty from Rodrigo Garro, but Thiago Almada later broke the deadlock, securing the final score just minutes later.

The match also marked the debut of Alex Telles for Botafogo. The former FC Porto and Manchester United player signed with Fogão after terminating his contract with Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
