This time on Independence Day, there is a three-way clash at the Indian box office. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’ has made record-breaking earnings. This film has become an all-time blockbuster in just two days. But the condition of the other two films ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and ‘Veda’ is bad. Both these films have been badly shattered in the storm of ‘Stree 2’. While this is the 9th consecutive blow for Akshay Kumar, this has proved to be another disaster film for John Abraham as a solo hero. Despite the holiday on 15 August on the opening day, these films proved to be ineffective, while on the second day, a decline of -60% and -70% has been recorded in the earnings of both. At present, ‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, is dominating the box office. On the opening day, this film earned Rs 51.80 crore, while on the second day, Friday, it has earned a bumper Rs 30 crore. Before its release, it had earned 8.50 crores from paid previews on 14 August. Thus, in two days, ‘Stree 2’ has made a net collection of 90.30 crores in the country. But ‘Veda’ and ‘Khel Khel Mein’ together could earn only 15 crores in two days.

‘Khel Khel Mein’ beats Veda, but earnings fall by -59.41%
‘Khel Khel Mein’, directed by Mudassar Aziz, earned only Rs 5.05 crore on its opening day on August 15. According to a report by sacnilk, its earnings fell by -59.41% on the second day and it earned only Rs 2.05 crore on Friday. Thus, in two days, ‘Khel Khel’ has made a net collection of Rs 7.10 crore in the country. The only good thing is that while ‘Veda’ was ahead of it in earnings on the first day, on the second day it has surpassed John Abraham’s film.
Worldwide collection of ‘Khel Khel Mein’
The condition of worldwide earnings of Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal starrer ‘Khel Khel Mein’ is also bad. In two days, it has grossed Rs 12.50 crore worldwide. Out of this, Rs 4 crore has been earned in foreign countries. The budget of the film is Rs 100 crore, which seems impossible for it to reach.
‘Veda’ suffered a big setback on the second day, earnings fell by -71.43%
On the other hand, ‘Veda’ has suffered the biggest setback on Friday. Its earnings have fallen by -71.43% on the second day as compared to the opening day. This John Abraham-Sharvari Wagh film, which earned Rs 6.30 crore on the first day, earned only Rs 1.80 crore on Friday. The total collection of the film in two days is Rs 8.10 crore.
Worldwide collection of ‘Veda’
‘Veda’ may be slightly ahead of ‘Khel Khel Mein’ in the country. But it has lagged behind in worldwide collection. In two days, ‘Veda’ has made a worldwide gross collection of Rs 11.60 crore. Out of this, only Rs 2 crore gross has been earned in foreign countries. The budget of ‘Veda’ is also equal to ‘Stree 2’ i.e. Rs 50 crore.
Earnings will increase on weekends, but there is no benefit
There is a possibility that both the films have suffered losses due to Friday being a working day. Their earnings are expected to increase in the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Whereas there is a partial holiday on Monday due to Raksha Bandhan. But this is like a drowning man clutching at a straw, because the way the audience is responding to ‘Stree 2’, ‘Veda’ and ‘Khel Khel Mein’ do not seem to be able to sail through at the box office.
