On behalf of the School Education Department, Minister K.R. Periyakaruppan inaugurated the state-level boxing competition at Sivagangai.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu School Education Department, the state-level boxing competition for school boys and girls was held at Sivagangai Champavika Higher Secondary School yesterday. The opening ceremony of this 4-day competition was presided over by District Collector Madhusudhan Reddy. District Physical Education Inspector Varamathi gave the welcome address.
Minister for Cooperatives KR Periya Karuppan participated in the program and inaugurated the competitions for the under-17s.
Then he said:- State level sports competitions are currently being held on the occasion of Republic Day and Bharathiar’s birthday. Accordingly, boxing matches are held in Sivagangai district.
The competitions are held separately for male and female students in 14, 17 and 19 age categories. 920 girls and 1100 boys from all districts of Tamil Nadu are participating in these competitions. These matches will be held for 4 days. This is what he said.
