jpnn.comBANDUNG – The public is still confused by the many conflicting news stories about the dangers of Bisphenol-A (BPA) to health.

Most people have heard of BPA, but perhaps only a few truly understand it.

BPA is a chemical compound that was first created in 1891, and has been widely used.

In addition to being used in food packaging products, BPA is also found in various other everyday products such as dental fillings, canned food and drinks, and thermal paper used for shopping receipts.

In drinking water, especially with polycarbonate gallon packaging, there have been no cases of disease or health problems directly related to BPA contamination. However, recently the narrative about the dangers of BPA to public health has continued to grow even though there has been no research and expert agreement to support the statement.

For your information, drinking water in polycarbonate gallon packaging is produced according to the rules and standards of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), and has been used by the Indonesian people for more than 40 years.

Internal Medicine Specialist with subspecialization in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes, Dr. dr. Laurentius Aswin Pramono explained that there has been no research that has definitively proven that BPA causes health problems.

“I emphasize that until now there is no strong evidence or sufficient scientific data to state that BPA can cause health problems, be it hormonal disorders or even diabetes,” he said.

Experts ask the public not to overthink BPA because it has not been proven to have an impact on health.
