jpnn.comJAKARTA – Aoka and Okko bread were once caught up in a cosmetic preservative case. Recently, the results of tests by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM RI) showed that Aoka bread was relatively safe while Okko was found to contain a banned compound, namely sodium dehydroacetate.
BPOM gave the ‘green light’ to Aoka bread because no prohibited preservatives were found.
BPOM’s quick move to test samples of Aoka bread products circulating in the community and immediately announce the results to the public is considered the right step.
This was conveyed by public policy observer from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, when contacted by the media crew.
“BPOM’s move is right. If I see it, this is just citizen journalism. BPOM has announced that aoka bread is not dangerous. BPOM must call stakeholders and create related regulations to be announced immediately,” he said while talking to the media crew via telephone, Saturday (27/7).
In fact, he continued, BPOM as an extension of the government regarding food and drug safety must act quickly to respond to the phenomena occurring in society before the news spreads more widely without its truth being tested.
In fact, Trubus continued, if the information is indicated as a hoax or a lie, BPOM as a credible institution must collaborate with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) to combat the fake news.
“BPOM and companies must proactively announce and disseminate to the public. BPOM must work together with the Ministry of Communication and Information to remove the hoax information. Then, investigate the hoax to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police,” he said.
BPOM’s explanation regarding Aoka bread provides peace of mind to the public as consumers.
