Brahmastra’s smash hit: National Film Day postponed to September 23, tickets priced at Rs 75

Mumbai: The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) on Tuesday announced that the National Cinema Day, which was scheduled to be celebrated on September 16, will be observed on September 23. This follows Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra beating Bollywood boycotts and becoming a huge success.

Released in theaters on September 9, Brahmastra collected Rs 225 crore at the global box office. The film collected Rs 75 crore at the global box office on its first day.

The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. The National Cinema Day, which was earlier scheduled to be celebrated on September 16, will now be held on September 23, the Multiplex Association of India said on Tuesday. After Brahmastra collected Rs 225 crore at the global box office, the decision was made following requests from various stakeholders.

Brahmastra is getting huge collections after Bollywood has seen a series of flops since the pandemic. With this, the film also created the record of being the biggest Bollywood opener for a non-holiday release.

Meanwhile, more than 4000 screens in multiplexes across the country like VR, Inox, Cinepolis, Carnival etc have offered Rs 75 entry tickets on the occasion of National Cinema Day.

The Multiplex Association of India said that National Cinema Day is a celebration of the successful reopening of cinemas and thanks to the movie lovers who made it possible. The National Film Day is also an invitation to film lovers who are yet to return to theatres, the association said.
