“Nala,” a lifeguard dog, along with her owner, saved an elderly man from drowning in Kamena Vourla.

She is a long-haired German shepherd and the only rescue dog in our country.

Specifically, as stated by trainer and rescuer, Giorgos Papageorgiou, who is her owner, Nala is four years old and has been trained in water rescue for the past two years at the only school in the world focused on this subject, which is located in Italy.

On Thursday (12/9), Nala’s owner went to visit a friend in Kamena Vourla. While he was at the beach with Nala, he saw a 77-year-old swimmer floating in the water, unconscious, 50 meters from the shore.

The two dove into the sea and brought him ashore. They provided first aid, and the 77-year-old, who had swallowed a lot of water, regained consciousness and was subsequently taken to the hospital in Lamia, where he is being treated and is out of danger.
