Rio de Janeiro ∙ Qatar has announced the Brazil squad for the World Cup. Brazil coach Tite has announced a 26-member squad. In a squad that featured most of the expected faces, including superstar Neymar, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino was a notable absence. Arsenal star Gabriel Megales, who has been in great form this season, is also missing from the squad.
Tite’s team consists of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, six midfielders and nine forwards. This is the maiden World Cup for 16 of the 26-member squad. 10 players including Neymar have played in the World Cup before. Thirty-nine-year-old Daniil Alves is the reason for the team. Thiago Silva (38) and Weverton (34) are next. Gabriel Martinelli (21) and Rodrigo (22) are the juniors in the team.
