Brazil will not remove blocking from social network X due to payment error”/>

Brazil’s Supreme Court said lawyers for social platform X (formerly Twitter) transferred fines to the wrong bank account, delaying a decision on whether to reopen the service in the country. This was reported by Reuters, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

“The payment of the fines, which X’s lawyers claim the company made correctly, is the only outstanding requirement of the court for the resumption of the platform in Brazil,” said a representative of the Supreme Court.

X suspended its operations in Brazil, one of its largest and most attractive markets, at the end of August. The reason was failure to comply with court orders related to the moderation of hateful content, as well as the lack of appointed legal representative in the country, which is required by law.

Last Friday, it filed a new request to restore its services in Brazil, declaring payment of all fines. In response, Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes demanded that the payment be transferred to the correct bank.

X’s lawyers have again asked the court to allow the resumption of work in Brazil, denying that the fines were paid to the wrong account. They also disagreed with the need to consult the attorney general before lifting the ban.
