The first child was born at the age of thirteen. At the age of 21, Soares’ husband died of tuberculosis. In the meantime, she gave birth to seven children. Two died of malnutrition at a young age. Soros once said that he had to steal to feed his children.

Soros gradually became famous for performing in theaters and nightclubs. At the age of 32, she married Brazilian footballer Garrincha. Lived together for 17 years. They both had a son but died at the age of nine.
