How Brazil’s Performances Went

Asymmetrical Bars

Brazil started the first rotation on the asymmetrical bars. Lorrane Oliveira was the first to compete, delivering a clean performance that earned her a score of 13.000. Flávia Saraiva raised concerns after falling during warm-up and cutting her face. The veteran recovered with a consistent performance and scored 13.666.

“I slipped. I thought ‘I just woke up’ (laughs). But I said ‘let’s go’, another day, let’s live this moment and fight,” said Flávia after the competition, to Olympics.com. “I’m seeing, but it’s a bit blurry (laughs). I hit my knee on my eye and it started to bleed, bleed, bleed.”

Rebeca Andrade came to her favorite apparatus, but the only one she did not qualify for individual finals, due to a mistake on her handspring in the qualifiers. This time, Rebeca edged towards perfection and received the highest score of the rotation, 14.533, ahead of her Chinese rivals.

Balance Beam

In the second rotation, Brazil performed on the balance beam. A finalist on the apparatus for Paris 2024, Júlia Soares opened the performance and suffered a fall, which affected her score, earning 12.400. Flávia Saraiva followed and improved her performance, despite a slight imbalance, scoring 13.433.

Finally, Rebeca Andrade also experienced an imbalance on the beam, but presented a routine with more difficulty than her teammates and achieved the best performance among the Brazilian women, with a score of 14.133.
