She is currently considered the most senior member of the Royal Family to represent the British Crown at events. Since the palace made the monarch’s cancer diagnosis public, she has made a total of 13 public appointments.
Last week, for example, Queen Camilla attended a memorial service for Constantine of Greece in Windsor and then held a reception for hundreds of guests. On Thursday she also met Olena Selenska, the wife of the Ukrainian president, at Clarence House. Now the 76-year-old apparently needs a break.
Queen Camilla has no appointments until mid-March
As the British newspaper “The Sunday Times” reports, Queen Camilla’s appointment calendar will be empty in the coming days. Accordingly, there are no obligations whatsoever. King Charles’ wife takes this opportunity to relax in private.
On March 11th, Queen Camilla will return to her duties: a Commonwealth Day service is planned for that day in Westminster Abbey. She will once again represent her husband at this event. Doctors have advised Charles not to attend any public appointments during his cancer treatment – but according to the palace, he will continue to carry out state affairs.
Queen Camilla was able to score points with the royal fans with her commitment over the past few days. The social media feedback for the 76-year-old is positive: “She has really grown on me over the years,” “Queen Camilla is doing great” and “She works so hard,” is on the official Instagram page. An insider tells the Sunday Times that the public’s positive reaction has buoyed Camilla: “She has found reserves of energy that she didn’t think she had, and the esteem in which she is held in the palace has increased since then she put in the effort.”
The source went on to say that Camilla is prepared for any eventuality: “Even if she did not expect to find herself in the role of leader of the family, the Queen is definitely prepared to do whatever is needed for the institution must.”
