The electoral wounds are still alive in Ariège. The dissident socialist Martine Forger, elected on Sunday in a tense duel with Bénédicte Taurine, the outgoing LFI-Nupes, had the bitter experience of this Thursday by joining the procession in Foix, as she did during previous demonstrations against pension reform. She was booed with cries of “Get out of there, get out, you have no business here”, then she was sprayed with water,
“It is urgent to put an end to this spiral of violence of public insult unless we take the risk of organizing the great swing of our country towards the worst”, wrote on Twitter Bernard Cazeneuvewho had come to support the deputy during her campaign, and does not hide her hostility to Nupes.
Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, first deputy secretary of the PS but opposed to the pro-nupes line, also gave his support to the deputy.
The vice-president of the Occitanie region, Kamel Chibli (PS), who had led Martine Froger’s campaign, accused “a group of the far left”. He mentions “physical threats”.
Martine Froger has already been at the heart of a war of the left during the legislative campaign of June 2022. Suspended from the party, she was supported by the local PS and the socialist president of Occitania Carole Delga, but not by the management which preferred to defend MP LFI, within the framework of the Nupes agreement.
The new parliamentarian wishes to integrate the PS group into the assembly but refuses to integrate the Nupes.
