During “Because they don’t know what’s happening” on Saturday there was not only an unpleasant faux pas – but also scenes that outraged many viewers.

An embarrassing mistake occurred on the RTL show “Because they don’t know what’s happening” on Saturday evening. Game director Thorsten Schorn congratulated Barbara Schöneberger on her birthday – and got the wrong birthday girl.

In the current edition, which is also available on RTL+, Barbara Schöneberger competed with Günther Jauch against Thomas Gottschalk and Mike Krüger. In the middle of the show, Thorsten Schorn made an unpleasant faux pas. He announced, “Barbara, we thought we’d give you a little treat for your birthday. Today is December 14th.” Presenter Victoria Swarovski then sang “Happy Birthday” and the audience also sang along. But Schöneberger interrupted, confused: “Um, thanks, but it’s March 5th. Hello!” She emphasized: “It’s not my birthday!”

Apparently there had been an embarrassing mix-up, because it was actually someone else who was celebrating his birthday: “Oh, then it’s Mike Krüger’s birthday today. Could that be?” Thorsten Schorn stated irritably. After the comedian confirmed this, he received his birthday serenade.

However, viewers were more concerned about another circumstance than the TV mishap. Because in one game, the celebrities received a puppy for every correct answer. “We thought about how we could make the points visible,” explained Thorsten Schorn. There was a hail of criticism for this in an Instagram post. “Dogs are not toys, what you are doing is irresponsible and shameful,” wrote one user.

“Absolutely incomprehensible how puppies are used as play points. So much stress for such little creatures. Really irresponsible,” reads one comment. “Animal protection?” can be read in the comment column. “It’s not possible to use animals and especially puppies for a show these days, don’t you think about it? Cute or not,” another person was also annoyed.
