Initial investigation by the IDF: the 16-year-old was near terrorists and a sniper accidentally shot her

During the operation on the night between Sunday and Monday, terrorists threw explosives and fired massive shots at the fighters, partly from the roofs of buildings. In the same activity, a 16-year-old girl was killed who was staying on one of the roofs from which fire was shot. The Palestinian Ministry of Health immediately reported that Jana Majdi Issam Zakharna, 16 years old, was killed after she was “shot in the head by the occupation soldiers.” The initial investigation was completed last night, the IDF reported that the girl was apparently killed by an MGB fire.

At the end of the initial investigation conducted by the IDF, it was found that there is indeed a high probability that the girl who was killed was hit by the fighters’ shots, accidentally. Apparently, the girl who was killed was on the roof of one of the houses near the armed men.

IDF spokesman: “The claim that the security forces fired at non-involved people on purpose is unfounded and baseless. The security forces will continue to investigate and work to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The IDF and its commanders regret any harm to non-involved people, even those who are in a combat environment and in the exchange of fire near the armed terrorists. The security forces will continue to act to thwart terrorism wherever necessary while making an effort to avoid harming those not involved.”
