(ANSA) – ANCONA, JULY 26 – The Villa Igea Nursing Homes in Ancona and Villa Serena in Jesi are strengthening their offerings for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. For this reason, the outpatient Senology activity was started, within the “Percorso Donna”, thanks to the arrival of Luca Caruso, head of the Surgical and Reconstructive Senology Operating Unit of the Abano Polyclinic.
The expansion of the range of services of the two facilities is characterized by the collaboration between the Radiology and Pathological Anatomy units and the Senology department of the Policlinico Abano in a network perspective and with the care of the patient throughout the entire process from diagnosis to surgical therapy. The service is provided both privately and under the national health system. The clinic is held on a weekly basis.
“The patient who needs it – explains Caruso – will be able to undergo, on the same day, a mammogram, breast ultrasound and breast examination with real-time reporting as well as a possible breast biopsy, the results of which, discussed by a team of different specialists, will be delivered to her in a very short time, providing her with the most suitable explanations regarding the continuation of the diagnostic therapeutic path”.
Caruso, who worked in the Breast Unit of the Veneto Oncology Institute, is the author of numerous presentations at national and international congresses of senology and plastic surgery, and boasts a personal case history of approximately two thousand interventions of oncological, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery with top marks and honors at the Federico II University of Naples and obtained a specialization in General Surgery at the same university with top marks and honors.
