Bremen and Bremerhaven celebrate International Women’s Day with this program

Every year on March 8th is International Women’s Day – a day that is intended to draw attention to structural problems for women in society. Some actions are planned for this.

1 “Who wants to be beautiful” – tour of historical female portraits and fashion in Haus Riensberg

The Bremen Focke Museum, in collaboration with the State Museum of Art and Cultural History, is organizing a tour past silk and pearl-embroidered festive dresses on March 8th at 11:30 a.m. A display collection is on display in Haus Riensberg. For an entry fee of 4 euros, spectators can marvel at the changes in fashionable Bremen over time since the 17th century.

In front of the dresses and painted portraits of women on display, the aim is to talk about the “fashion” and role models of the time and today. The guide costs an additional 4 euros per person, young people up to 17 years of age get in free of charge. The meeting point for the tour is the Riensberg Park at the Focke Museum. 2 Feminist rap and sound installation at the Bremen Theater

Sound installations with voices from the theater and the city – that’s what viewers can expect at the Theater Bremen. On March 8th there will be a sound installation at Goetheplatz and St. Pauli-Hof in Bremen. The people of Bremen can do this too record an audio yourself. “What’s on your mind on March 8th?” is the question that should be answered in short audio snippets of a maximum of one minute, says the Theater Bremen. These can be sent in advance to [email protected]. The installation will then run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Goetheplatz and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on St. Pauli Hof.

In addition, speed dates will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bremen Theater canteen to meet people from the theater and the public. Every new hour, questions – such as those after March 8th – can be discussed. The event is free and registration is not required.

In the evening the theater also invites you to Celebrate loud and purple from 10 p.m into the foyer. Feminist rap and cosmic disco sounds are on the program there. The event is free of charge. Those interested do not need to register in advance.

3 Bremen city tour on “Women in housing and homelessness”

Women are disproportionately affected by housing and homelessness. In order to make this visible, the Heinrich Böll Foundation Bremen and the LieLa association are inviting people to one City center tour on March 10th.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Markus Urban and Clara Schröder from Liela e. V. on topics such as health care, security aspects, fundraising and social contacts of the women affected. There is an opportunity for open discussions and questions. The starting point of the tour is the Bremen Town Musicians. The tour is free, one Registration is required.

4 Women’s breakfast of the Bremen Evangelical Church

On March 8th, women in Work-Life-Future (ALZ) can have breakfast together on Wormser Straße. So far, breakfast meetings have taken place every 14 days, but this time the facility is open exclusively to women. On a donation basis, Bremen women can visit between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m Women’s breakfast seek exchange. Registration is not required.

5 Women’s political networking in the Bremerhaven Equal Opportunities Office

The FZS Bremerhaven invites you to network on March 8th. A perspective from politics is on site – Tanja Baermann, head of the representation of the state of Bremen to the European Union, presents milestones in women’s policy. In addition, the state women’s representative Bettina Wilhelm addressed a greeting to all visitors.
