The Chargé d’Affairs at the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, discussed with the minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Adel Jumaa, and Ibrahim al-Dabaiba, Advisor to the Prime Minister, ways to strengthen bilateral economic relations between the two countries, and the importance of protecting the independence and integrity of the Central Bank of Libya and other vital Libyan technical institutions. Brent said in a tweet published by the US Embassy on its account on the “X” platform, “The good meeting was held on Monday evening at the residence in Tunisia, during which the decisive role played by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya was also discussed.”
Brent added: “During the meeting, we expressed our appreciation for the success of the High National Elections Commission in managing the first round of municipal elections in November, an achievement that coudl form a positive basis for holding additional municipal elections in the coming months and creating a reliable path towards successful national elections.”
The American diplomat also reaffirmed the United States’ support for Libyan efforts aimed at overcoming divisions and unifying institutions.
