It was the outcome that everyone feared. Three days after his disappearance during an evening at a discotheque, the body of Sami El Yousfi Alaoui was discovered in the commercial port of Brest (Finistère) on Wednesday, reports West France.

The corpse of this 20-year-old Moroccan student was found by divers around 4 p.m., a tragic epilogue to a long search that mobilized firefighters, maritime police, divers and drones. His passport attesting to his identity was in one of his trouser pockets.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the young man spends the evening at the Suite, a disco located on the commercial port, in the company of friends, students of the Erasmus program. Around 3 a.m., Sami tells his friends to go to the bathroom. He had not given any sign of life since.

Less than 100 m from the discotheque

Research was therefore carried out by the police – who had also launched an appeal for witnesses – in the young man’s apartment as well as around the harbor basins, without success. His body was finally recovered less than 100 m from the nightclub, at the foot of the stairs leading to the port.

Sami was about to enter the fourth year at the ENIB engineering school. “A gifted, motivated, very responsible and very empowered student”, describes him Alexis Michel, director of the establishment, relayed by Ouest-France. This Wednesday, around thirty friends and acquaintances had walked the streets of the Breton city in the hope of finding his trace. 2000 leaflets bearing the photo of the young man had been printed, displayed and distributed.

An autopsy will be performed shortly to determine the cause of death.
