Time.news – The European Commissioner responsible for vaccines, Thierry Breton, confirmed his prediction according to which the citizens of the European Union by 14 July they will have achieved collective immunity for Covid-19.

“We now have the capacity to manufacture and supply our fellow Europeans with the 360 million doses of the vaccine planned at the end of the quarter and the 420 million doses planned for the end of July, which are needed to start talking about this collective immunity and achieve it,” Breton said in an interview with Le Figaro.

The commissioner also presented spectators with a facsimile of the health certificate that this summer will have to allow citizens to resume travel within the European Union.

“This is the health certificate”, he explained, “you will find your name, date of birth, passport number, whether you have been vaccinated or not and with which vaccine, regardless of having been carriers of the disease “.

The certificate “will be implemented in mid-June”, Breton added, “an airline may ask you for it and if you don’t have it, you will be asked to take a test.” “In the second quarter, AstraZeneca pledged to supply 70 million doses to our fellow Europeans. I know where they are produced, so I am confident.”

Finally, the European Union does not rule out the adoption of the Russian vaccine against Covid-19 Sputnik V but is currently focused on the distribution of serums already approved by the European Medicines Agency (Ema).

“All vaccines are welcome,” concluded Breton, “but I don’t want to destabilize our production chains which are 100% focused on already approved vaccines. For Sputnik we will see if it will be approved “.
