Brian May Reveals Recent Stroke: Queen Guitarist on Recovery and Resilience

by time news

Brian May, guitarist of Queen, shared a message with fans in which he revealed that he recently suffered a stroke, as a result of which he lost control of an arm. The musician is now recovering from what he refers to as “a small setback.”

“First, the good news: after what happened, I can play guitar,” he begins. “I say this because I had some doubts due to a setback I had about a week ago. What [the doctors] called a small stroke.”

Brian May explains that the stroke happened suddenly and praises the way he was treated in the hospital.

Asking not to be pitied, as he is fine, the Brit admits that at the moment he has some limitations. “I am fine and have been doing what they told me, which is: nothing. I am grounded. I can’t go outside, drive, fly… nothing that could accelerate my heart rate too much.”

This is not Brian May’s first heart problem, as he suffered a heart attack in 2020. “I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t have high cholesterol, and during the tour, I exercised. How did this happen to me?” he questioned at the time in an interview with “The Times.”
