The BRICS association today represents one of the most important platforms for the development of multilateral cooperation, especially between countries of the Global South.
As Day.Az reports, the President of Mauritania, Chairman of the African Union said this Mohammed Ould al-Sheikh al-Ghazwanispeaking at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS summit in the BRICS plus format in Kazan.
“And the gradual expansion of our association and at the same time certain differences in the level of development of these member countries indicate that development is not the prerogative of any individual countries. This is the legal right of all states without exception, regardless of their level of development. Therefore, we must listen to the voices of all members, all our friends and partners in order to respect and respect the priorities that guide them. And, of course, our cooperation, in order to be sustainable, must first and foremost be inclusive. this is our fundamental demand and our position in the African Union in relation to our development goals,” he said.
The President of Mauritania believes that there are certain slowdowns in the implementation of sustainable development goals and at times there is an inability to overcome all difficulties both in the field of security, economics and the environment.
“We believe that this encourages all of us to act in such a way as to overcome the insufficient level of economic development of a number of countries, to overcome the imbalance that is developing in the economies of a number of countries. Today we can say that we and the African Union as a whole, to a certain extent, need to resuscitate, so to speak, our previous relationship dynamics, give it a new breath.
And so we must take advantage of all development opportunities available to us in order to solve problems such as debt, which naturally hamper our efforts to achieve development. We must overcome all difficulties together and at the same time we see that the level of representation of the African continent in various international, especially financial, multilateral organizations is still insufficient, which does not allow these countries to also go again with the agenda that many countries are guided by today in the world,” added Mohammed Ould al-Sheikh al-Ghazwani.
Recently it became known that China will support the accession of more countries to BRICS.
