Brics: obstacles and opportunities for Lula to expand Brazil’s influence in the world
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) travels to South Africa, where he participates in the 15th Summit of the Brics, a group of countries that he helped found and that brings together Brazil, Russia, India, China and the host country.
The country will be Lula’s 17th international destination in almost eight months of government. Behind the scenes, the visit is seen as one more step in an ambitious project built by many hands: expanding Brazil’s influence in the global arena.
