Drivers and motorcyclists regained access to the concrete bridge that connects Avenida Fernando Corrêa da Costa and Rua José Antônio, this Friday morning (26). The stretch was released, as announced by Sisep (Municipal Secretariat for Infrastructure and Public Services), only partially.

One of the lanes on Avenida Fernando Corrêa da Costa remains closed for the continuation of works at the site for another month. According to the head of Sisep, Domingos Sahib Neto, all services provided for in the contract were carried out, however, there was a change. “The works were scheduled for 30 days, but we had an increase in the services initially established. With this amendment, we went from more than 60 days of execution. We will hold a Fernando Corrêa runway until the end”, he explained.

The costs of the work increased with an addendum of R$ 228,206.90 which, added to the initial costs of R$ 710,863.04, total R$ 939,069.94. About the added services, Domingos detailed: “A service will be done inside the canal, sidewalks that have not been completed and resurfacing over the bridge. From the structural part, nothing else is missing”.

Rains – Inspector of the work, Bernardo Chagas Loubet explained that damage caused by the rains prolonged the work and demanded the amendment. “The bottom of the canal gave way, it sank. The part under the bridge was exposed to the water, which washed away all the support material for the curtain”, he began.

What was completed, reinforced Loubet, was the entire bottom of the canal under the bridge. “Two meters of recomposition in concrete, on the side of the bridge structure. The ditch was also completed”, he pointed out.

What will be done in the next 30 days will be the recomposition of the canal bank and the bottom of the canal, in addition to the recomposition of the footbridge and resurfacing of the crossing, concluded the work supervisor.

Attention – The president of Agetran (Municipal Traffic Agency), Janine Bruno, was on site this morning. He reinforced that the release is partial.

Janine asks anyone passing by to slow down and be extra careful. “A lot of attention whenever you come with the car, because there will be machinery, there will be workers still working, although we have started to let the traffic flow a little”, she said.

The blockade is signposted with trestles and agency cones to prevent pedestrians from crossing and vehicles approaching the restricted lane.

Delay – For drivers who frequently pass through the stretch, the impression is that the work is taking longer than it should.

Builder Lino Alencar, 43, complains about the slowness: “Something that could have been done in 15 days will take two months”. He also does not approve of partial release. “Flow is very bad. When it releases completely, it will be good to go straight”, he said.

App driver Mary Hellen Lourenti, 40, worries about accidents. “It’s terrible, not to mention the accidents it’s causing. With this partial release, it will certainly get better, but releasing it so we can take more risks won’t do anything. The work has to be finished soon”, he said.
