Brighton & Hove Albion secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash, marking their fifth win in seven matches and propelling them to second place with 16 points. The rout, which saw Crystal Palace concede 17 goals across their opening seven league games, was underscored by a first-half spree of three goals in the opening 10 minutes, despite an expected goals (xG) statistic of just 0.10, according to Sport.lt.
Goals and Manager’s Disappointment
Diego Gómez opened the scoring in the seventh minute, with Yasines Ayari adding a second goal in the 10th minute. Crystal Palace’s Jaydee Canvotas inadvertently scored an own goal in the fourth minute, further compounding their struggles. Charalampos Kostoulas extended Brighton’s lead in the 49th minute, while Jack Hinshelwood sealed the win with a goal in the 84th minute, as detailed in Eurofootball’s coverage.
