Brighton Edges Past Manchester United with Dramatic Late Victory

by time news

Brighton overcame the hurdle of Manchester United with a 2-1 victory at the Amex Stadium, with goals from Welbeck and João Pedro in injury time and Diallo temporarily equalizing.

Brighton made it two wins out of two in the Premier League, defeating Manchester United 2-1 at home, with standout performances from Welbeck (32′) and Pedro (90+5′) while Diallo equalized temporarily in the 60th minute.

The first good chance came in the 11th minute from Manchester United, with Dalot delivering a nice cross, and Diallo attempting a shot, but failing to send the ball into the net.

The Red Devils threatened again in the 24th minute with a header from Casemiro and in the 27th with a shot off target from Dalot, but in both cases, the ball went over the goalposts of Steele.

In the 32nd minute, it was Welbeck who hurt his former team and put Brighton ahead. Pedro made a great pass to the right, which went past everyone and ended up on the left with Mitoma, who then passed it to Welbeck.

The defensive organization of United didn’t work well, with Martinez and Maguire not reacting, and Welbeck scoring his 100th goal in the Premier League.

Two minutes later, the visitors found the net with Rashford, but the goal was disallowed for offside. United had another opportunity to equalize, but Steele saved Mount’s shot in the 37th minute, with Brighton heading to the locker room leading.

In the 55th minute, Brighton came very close to making it 2-0, with the ball hitting the post, but in the 60th minute, United managed to equalize at 1-1.

Mazraoui beautifully assisted Diallo from the right, who feigned a shot, with the ball hitting Van Hecke’s knee and ending up in Steele’s net.

United came very close to turning the match around, with Garnacho’s goal being disallowed for Zirkzee’s offside. Fernandes entered the box, passed it to Garnacho, but the ball hit Zirkzee’s knee before reaching the net from the feet of the Spaniard, who was in an offside position.
