jpnn.comJAKARTA – West Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir has opened his voice regarding the incident of mutual attacks between TNI and Brimob soldiers at Sorong Sea Port, West Papua.

Inspector General Isir ensured that similar actions would not occur again in the future. In the future, the TNI and Polri will even be solid in carrying out their duties.

“We remain committed to maintaining and realizing solidity and synergy with the TNI which is in the jurisdiction of the West Papua Regional Police,” he explained.

Inspector General Isir also apologized for the incident, especially to Marhanlan XIV/Sorong.

“On behalf of the West Papua Regional Police Chief, of course we apologize to the entire community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Indonesian Armed Forces Headquarters, Major General Nugraha Gumilar, confirmed that the incident between TNI AL soldier Marhanlan XIV/Sorong and members of Brimob occurred at Sorong Harbor, West Papua, Sunday (14/4).

According to Major General Nugraha Gumilar, the incident was just a misunderstanding.

“It was just a misunderstanding, the Brimob members didn’t accept being reprimanded so a fight broke out,” he explained.

The incident involving the attack on Brimob and the Indonesian Navy was triggered by a misunderstanding at Sorong Sea Port.
