The British Daily Telegraph revealed that London is heading towards doubling the number of attack nuclear submarines In its fleet, plans were revealed for seven new ships at a cost of £1.3 billion each under the tripartite (Ocus) agreement between Britain, Australia and the United States of America.

The newspaper pointed out that defense officials tried to justify the trend to increase the number of nuclear submarines in Britain, as part of the new strategy of what is called “confronting the growing Chinese powers.”

According to the newspaper, this trend requires Britain to replace up to 19 British-designed next-generation submarines known as the nuclear ship submersibles.

The Daily Telegraph indicated that the first new ships are expected to be seaworthy by the end of 2030, while British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced his commitment to taking “swift and strong action” to confront what he described as “any threat to British interests from China,” which is a trend It appeared clearly recently after the start of the Ukraine crisis, and the United States pushed its allies in Europe towards more military, political and economic escalation against Russia and China.

Sunak did not find it embarrassing to indicate that he might follow in the footsteps of the United States and the European Union, by banning the social media application (TikTok) on phones and government devices, saying: Britain “will look at what its allies do” in this regard.

The British government recently announced that it will increase defense spending by 5 billion pounds over the next two years, under the pretext of the Ukrainian crisis, indicating that 3 billion pounds will be used to develop nuclear deterrent forces.

In the long term, Britain plans to increase its military spending by 2.5 percent of GDP.
