NOTICIACRISTIANA.COM.- A Catholic bishop has said that Britain is no longer a Christian contry,after MPs voted in favor change laws on assisted dying.
Teh Bishop of Portsmouth,Philip Egan,wrote a letter of advent to his diocese after MPs voted by a majority of 55,to allow assisted dying. this would apply to people with a prognosis of six months or less to live, as long as they have the approval of two doctors and a judge.
“While not unexpected, this vote represents a serious danger. “Britain is crossing a line from which there will be no turning back,” he wrote. “Being a Christian in the future will not be easy, if it ever was.”
“Increasingly, as in the past, we will distinguish ourselves from others and from other members of our society who see human life, its dignity and its value, in a radically different way.”
Christians oppose it
Before the vote, he met with religious leaders, including the Bishop of London, the Reverend sarah Mullally, as well as the former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, who is in favor of the bill, despite 62% of Britons, including, Christians are against it.
