Britain negotiates free trade agreement with Australia

by time news

The UK government has signed the “first major trade agreement” since the country’s exit from the EU. On Monday evening, June 14, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison reached agreement on all the main points of the “historic” deal, the British government said in a statement. The final text of the agreement will be published in the coming days.

Trade between the UK and Australia last year amounted to £ 13.9 billion. In addition, citizens under the age of 35 will be able to travel more freely to the territory of the partner country of the agreement and work there. And the removal of import duties will save the British up to £ 34 million a year.

“Today marks a new heyday in Britain’s relationship with Australia, underpinned by our shared history and shared values,” said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
