/ Virgin Atlantic and British Airways confirmed on Saturday that the wingtip of a plane belonging to the first company, with no passengers on board, collided with a parked plane belonging to the second while it was being towed on the grounds of Heathrow Airport in London.

Heathrow Airport, Britain’s busiest airport for passengers, said that “no injuries among passengers have been reported and that it does not expect this incident to continue to impact any of its operations.”

British Airways said in a statement: “Our engineering teams are evaluating our aircraft, and we have provided an alternative aircraft to reduce the impact of the accident on our customers.”

Virgin Atlantic said that its plane was a Boeing 787-9, and that it had just completed one of the flights. She explained that the accident occurred at the third passenger terminal while it was being towed to another area.

A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said: “We have launched a full and comprehensive investigation, and our engineering teams are conducting maintenance checks on the aircraft, which has been taken out of service at this time.”

He added that the accident will not affect the company’s flight programs today.

Heathrow Airport said it was dealing with the incident in cooperation with emergency services and the two airlines.
