A government information center on the situation around Ukraine will be created in the UK. The head of the British Foreign Office stated this in an interview with the British newspaper Mail on Sunday, published on February 20.

It is noted that the activities of the center will be focused on the fight against “Russian disinformation”. It is planned to involve experts from various ministries of the kingdom in the work.

“At the end of the Cold War, we disbanded our information division, but Russia did not disband its own, and for this reason we have been exposed to Russian disinformation for many years. We are responsible [на действия РФ]we are working with our allies to [президент РФ Владимир] Putin could not continue to make statements that do not correspond to the truth, ”Truss said.

According to the head of the foreign policy department, since the beginning of this month, 40 cases of dissemination of false information by Russia have allegedly been revealed.

“We have recorded a doubling in the number of cases of disinformation over the past week, we know that Russia is working in this direction,” Truss said.

On February 19, British Home Secretary Priti Patel announced that the kingdom authorities intend to expand the powers of law enforcement in the fight against espionage due to Russia’s “offensive foreign policy”.

Truss previously reported on the possibility of Russia preparing a “false flag operation” in Ukraine. In an interview with Sky News, the British minister suggested that Moscow, as a pretext for an “invasion”, would announce a provocation from Kiev. At the same time, she did not provide any evidence for the unfounded accusations, noting only that such actions are allegedly characteristic of Russia.

In response, Zakharova said that Truss’s words about Russia’s plans to “invade” Ukraine under a “false flag” are disinformation. Moscow has repeatedly spoken about the use of “foreign flags” in Ukraine, but in the context of possible provocations by the West, the diplomat noted.

Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied such statements. Moscow emphasized that it was not hatching plans for an invasion of Ukraine, and that all measures for the combat training of troops were carried out within Russian territory.
