Asghari, a model and fitness trainer, released a statement on Thursday addressing the situation and emphasizing the importance of privacy and kindness during this challenging time.
Acknowledging the seemingly absurd request for privacy, Asghari stated, “After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always.”
Court documents filed in Los Angeles cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce, revealing that the couple had separated nearly three weeks ago. Asghari intends to seek financial support from Spears and have her cover his legal expenses. The exact value of their assets, both individually and jointly, is yet to be determined.
In response to tabloid rumors, a representative for Asghari firmly denied claims that he had threatened to release embarrassing material about Spears unless concessions were made in their prenuptial agreement. The representative, Brandon Cohen, clarified, “All these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”

Asghari, 29, and Spears, 41, first met on the set of one of her music videos in 2016. They maintained a relationship for years while Spears was under a conservatorship led by her father. Wanting to marry Asghari was among the reasons she sought an end to the conservatorship, which was eventually granted in November 2021. The couple got engaged in September 2021, shortly before the conservatorship ended.
This marriage was Asghari’s first, while it marked Spears’ third. Her previous marriages include a union with Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two children, and an annulled marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander, which lasted only 55 hours.
