Amid the turbulent period in which Spears was not doing well, as she herself admitted in her new memoir, she released her album “Blackout”. It’s her best and what she’s most proud of, explains Spears in “The Woman in Me.”

However, one of the most important promotional appearances for the work went badly wrong and caused a real scandal. In September of the same year, the pop princess performed her single “Gimme More” on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards. She wore a sparkly black lingerie set and black boots. Rather bad hair extensions on the head. However, what shocked viewers the most at the time was Britney’s condition on stage. She danced as if she had never rehearsed a choreography before and seemed really off track. The New York Times called it a “fiasco” at the time.

“I didn’t want to, but my team pushed me to show the world that I was fine. The only problem was: I wasn’t fine,” she writes. “Everything went wrong backstage. There were problems with my outfit and the extensions. I hadn’t slept the night before and I was dizzy,” reveals the singer. It had been less than a year since her second son was born, and Spears was shamed for “not having six-pack abs again,” she says. But that’s not enough.

Meeting Justin Timberlake

“I met Justin backstage. It had been a while since I had last seen him. Everything was going great for him. He was at the top in every way and had a lot of swag,” she describes the situation. “I had a panic attack. I hadn’t rehearsed enough. I hated how I looked. I knew it was going to go wrong,” said Spears. Looking back, she doesn’t want to defend the performance, but it’s normal, says Spears, to have a bad day sometimes. “Usually you don’t experience one of the worst days of your life in the exact same place where your ex is having one of his best days,” she writes, referring to Justin Timberlake, who was celebrating a career high at the time.

According to the musician, she then had a crying fit in her dressing room.
