Britney Spears’ Childhood Home Hits Real Estate Market for $1.2 Million

Iconic pop star Britney Spears has put her childhood home in Kentwood, Louisiana, up for sale this week. The ranch-style home, which holds memories of the singer’s formative years, is listed for an astounding $1.2 million, more than quadruple the price it sold for just a year ago.

Yvonne Hulsey, the Keller Williams real estate agent in charge of the listing, acknowledges that the home’s appraised value is not in line with the listing price. Hulsey states, “What we’re selling is not square footage. This home will not appraise for 1.2 million. This is going to be a cash buyer, somebody who wants to buy a part of history, a legacy, memory.”

The one-story, 2,229 square-foot home features three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Built in 1980, it has not undergone recent renovations in the kitchen and bathrooms. Situated on a nearly 2-acre lot, the property includes a basketball hoop and a two-car garage. Hulsey estimates that an appraiser would value the home at around $300,000, making it unlikely for a buyer paying close to the full listing price to secure a loan.

Interestingly, Hulsey was also involved in the previous sale of the home in 2021 when Britney’s estranged father, Jamie Spears, listed it for less than $300,000. However, he did not market the home’s connection to his daughter.

This time around, the property comes with some remarkable selling features. Hulsey reveals that the home includes furniture left behind by Jamie Spears, including sofas, chairs, and various knickknacks. One notable item is a mirror adorned with Britney Spears stickers and an ‘N Sync World Tour poster, original to Britney’s room. Another intriguing element is a closet door with the words “Christina sucks Brit rules,” believed to have been written by the pop star herself.

However, prospective buyers won’t find the bedroom furniture that Spears grew up with, as these pieces are currently displayed at the Kentwood Museum, where there is an exhibit dedicated to the pop star.

The timing of the listing is noteworthy, as it was released shortly after the publication of Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me.” The book, released on October 24, sold over 1 million copies in its first week. In her memoir, Spears expresses frustration and disappointment with those who took advantage of her and profited from her success. The Kentwood home is mentioned multiple times in the book, including an anecdote about Spears’ decision to quit an off-Broadway play at the age of 10 because she wanted to spend Christmas in her childhood home.

Hulsey hopes that whoever purchases the property will transform it into a museum, venue, or Airbnb, bringing excitement and nostalgia to Louisiana as visitors experience the place where the Spears family raised their children.

Although no offers have been received yet, Hulsey remains optimistic as the listing has attracted significant attention within only 72 hours. Interest in the property has come from people worldwide. Hulsey emphasizes that the $1.2 million price tag should not deter interested buyers, as “everything is negotiable.”

As Britney Spears continues to make headlines and take control of her life, her childhood home serves as a unique opportunity for fans and history enthusiasts alike to own a piece of her remarkable journey.
