Briton Tom Pidcock, Olympic mountain bike champion, won the 17th edition of the Strade bianche on Saturday in Siena, after a great solo number, beating Frenchman Valentin Madouas, 2nd at 20 seconds.

The runner from the Ineos-Grenadier formation gave a first push 50 kilometers from the line to join two breakaway runners then flew alone to victory 23 km from the goal taking advantage of a new section of land. In the group of five pursuers who returned to just fifteen seconds six kilometers from the goal, Madouas was the strongest to seek second place ahead of the Belgian Tiesj Benoot.
